Who needs friends?

I'm not sure how many hours I've put into oblivion in the last 2 days, but I've nothing but play Oblivion and sleep since last night at about 6.

Great game.

Best game ever.

Must play more.

The return of the GFL

In some earlier post I talked about the GFL.

I think the term is one I coined for a weekly football game I used to arrange in high school.

Anyways, on Saturday, I played a game with some other people who used to play BEFORE the GFL was started.

I would say that I played well, but I'm not going to lie to my four loyal readers and anyone else who might happen across this. We were the Bears. Dominant defense, offense couldn't score.

There were goods and bads.

We played in a zone defense for the entire game. That was pretty sweet, We had two deep safties, a man on the quarterback, a man in the middle of the field, and two short side defenders. I played in the short side zone. I played pretty well on defense, I was often in good position, and seldom left recievers wide open. Generally, I'm the worst defensive player on the team.

Pat was in the deep zone behind me, and for some reason they kept throwing deep to his side. He had 7 interceptions, and was really the reason we were able to stay in it.

On offense, I played quarterback nearly the whole game, and it was pretty brutal. We could move the ball well, but we could never convert on fourth down and short. (In the GFL, we have one first down at midfield, and that's it until you score or turn it over on downs).

My scrambling was great, I was able to run all over the place. My throwing left quite a bit to be desired. The other team played pretty good coverage, but even when I had a reciever open I made it difficult to catch a pass.

At half time, we were down 7-3. We play to 10. It didn't look good.

But we knew our defense was good, and our team was a bunch of HEART guys, guys who will play hard every play until the end, and we stayed after it.

We scored onece. 7-4. The scored, 8-4. Then, we went crazy.

My team was Me, Patrick, my bro-bro Jake, his nephew Bobby and DMoney. Bobby and I took over from here. There were two men on him every single play, but somehow I would throw it close to him, he'd reel it in and off we'd go. Bobby (paired with a bunch of interceptions by Pat) lead us on a rampage that put us up 9-8.

Then they started driving.

We were tired. It was pretty hot. Most of us are out of shape. And somehow, they started to move the ball again. They threw a couple of beautiful passes to recievers that found a TINY hole between Pat and me. I mean, we were both right there, but these were PERFECT passes.

It looked like they would tie it. I don't remember what down it was, but they were on our side of the first down marker, and the absolutely unthinkable happened.

A pass came into my zone. I caught it. I ran the other way. The game was over.

The game ended on a pick returned by a touchdown, by me.

That doesn't happen. I play poor defense. I have maybe three picks in my GFL LIFE.

But I got a big one there.

Kosh can cram it up his ass and giggle with glee.
